Visit to Bloomfield College

The students went to visit Bloomfield College and had a great time especially learned about the college life. We implement our YLD (Youth Leadership Development) curriculum so our students can become future leaders and encourage them to continue their education. In addition, we help them with community service, cultural awareness, college prep, and etc.

The ASPIRA Program

Under the leadership of Mrs. Leira Rodriguez, teacher of English as a Second Language at the School of Government at Eastside, the ASPIRA organization, including Ms. Janice Carrion and Ms. Belkis Vasquez as well as students represent the ASPIRA Organization in the Paterson Public School District.   We take great pride in providing our participants a Youth Leadership Development Curriculum that embeds active and rigorous involvement in the school, community, and post-secondary institutions through academic advisory, community service, and college-affiliated activities. ASPIRA students are exposed to meaningful opportunities such as: college tours, charity and field trip related fundraisers, FAFSA and scholarship assistance, academic tutoring, a challenged-students mentorship program, career-related summer programs and community service. Overall, we believe these endeavors will lead our students to expand on their fullest potential by taking charge of their lives via taking the right path to achieve the American Dream, for we believe all of our students here at Eastside High School possess unique talents and intellectual abilities.

Our Mission...

The ASPIRA Inc. is the only national nonprofit organization devoted to the education and leadership development of Puerto Rican and other Latino youth. ASPIRA takes its name from the Spanish verb aspirar, "aspire." Aspira's mission is to empower the Puerto Rican and Latino community through advocacy and the education and leadership development of its youth.

ASPIRA volunteers for Habitat for Humanity

Paterson Habitat For Humanity is a non-profit organization that creates home-ownership opportunities for families with limited income through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes. On March 22, 2016, HfH provided Aspirantes  with a safety training prior to our volunteer service on improving homeless families’ shelter conditions. They were very happy to have us and congratulated Eastside High School for being the first school in Paterson to volunteer for this cause.
