Principal - Karen Johnson, Ed.D

Dr. Karen A. Johnson, a New Jersey native with a doctorate degree from St. Elizabeth's College is an Eastside Ghost for life.  Dedicating her adult professional life to Eastside has been both an honor and a blessing.  Having taught at Eastside and then serving as a Vice Principal and the first female Principal of the school and now continuing her career as a servant leader, Dr. Johnson remains committed to the students, staff and families of the Eastside Community.   Dr. Johnson recognizes that with the support of effective school district administrators and committed families and staff, the school thrives but it is the vitality and energy and hope and inspiration of the students that keeps the Eastside spirit alive.

Vice Principal - Miguel Sosa, M.A.

Mr. Miguel A. Sosa was born in Puerto Rico and has been a lifelong resident in the city of Paterson. As a true educator, he has proven to be a lifelong learner. His K-12 studies began at the Dale Avenue School and finished with his John F. Kennedy High School graduation in 1984. He holds a post-graduate Business Administration Degree from the Caribbean University of Puerto Rico and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from New Jersey City University. Currently, he is completing his second year of doctoral studies in Servant Leadership at the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey. By the end of the 2014-2015 school year, he  completed his 14th year as an educator in the Paterson School District. He began his educational career as a Business Teacher at Eastside High School in 2001 and was promoted to an administrative position as a Business Chairperson at Eastside High School in 2007. Five years later, he became the Vice Principal of The School of Government and Public Administration (GoPA). As the Vice Principal for the School of GoPA, he has stated on multiple occasions that he is extremely honored to give back to his beloved community the opportunity to prepare our urban students for academic success.

Vice Principal - Michael Ollo, M.Ed.L

Mr. Michael Ollo was born in Newark, NJ and has been a teacher since 1984.  He also served five years in the U.S. Air Force.   In addition to being the Vice Principal, he also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Education at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ.   As a high school teacher, he has taught psychology, history, biology and math and was the New York City District 3 Teacher of the Year in 1990 and the Governor’s Teacher of the Year in 1998.  His educational career has also included being the Lead Teacher of the Alternative School, the Dean of Students as well as the Advanced Placement History and Psychology teacher.  He became the Social Studies Department Chair in 2010 and the Vice Principal in 2014.  He holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Communications, History and Political Science and Master’s Degrees in the Arts of Teaching and in Educational Leadership.    As the Vice Principal of the School of Government and Public Administration (GoPA), he supports the mission of the school and facilitates teacher growth.  He is extremely honored to be able to be part of one of the best urban schools in New Jersey as it prepares students for academic success and prepares them for college and career success.
