Principal- Miguel Sosa, M.A.

Mr. Miguel A. Sosa was born in Puerto Rico and has been a lifelong resident in the city of Paterson. As a true educator, he has proven to be a lifelong learner. His K-12 studies took its roots at the Dale Avenue School and culminated with a John F. Kennedy High School diploma in 1984. He holds a post-graduate Business Administration Degree from the Caribbean University of Puerto Rico and a Master of Arts Degree in Administration and Supervision from New Jersey City University. Additionally, he has completed three years of doctoral studies in Servant Leadership at the College of St. Elizabeth and is in the process of finishing his dissertation.

He has 18 years of experience in the field of education, all at Eastside High School. He began his career in 2001 as a business teacher and after 5 years, he was promoted as business chairperson. In 2012 he became the vice principal of GOPA and as of the 2018-2019 school year, became the Principal of GOPA. Vice Principal - Tyeshia A. Hilbert, M.Ed.

Ms. Tyeshia A. Hilbert was born in Passaic, New Jersey and moved with her family to Paterson, New Jersey at the age of six. She is proud to still call the great city of Paterson her home. Ms. Hilbert comes from a long line of educators which include her mom and other family members. She graduated from William Paterson University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. After a successful bout in the business sector, she made the decision to go into education in 2005, through the New Pathways to Teaching in New Jersey program, and began her teaching career with Paterson Public Schools in 2006. Ms. Hilbert graduated from Concordia University with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in 2015, and is currently working towards her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Seton Hall University.

Ms. Hilbert has served in various capacities within the Paterson Public School district. She has served as an elementary school teacher at School 27 for seven years, as a District administrator in the roles of Affirmative Action Officer and Coordinator of Culture & Climate for two years, and as the Vice Principal at School Number 12 for three years. She is ecstatic to serve as Vice Principal of GOPA and is excited about the possibilities that this program will offer students.

Ms. Hilbert is passionate about education and seeks to inspire students that despite any obstacle, they have the power not only to soar academically, but to reach new heights that will impact their lives and the global world around them.
