National Spanish Exam

2018 National Spanish Exam

This is the sixth consecutive year that the School of Government and Public Administration at Eastside High School has proven that hard work pays off.

On March 4, 2018, forty four students from the Spanish classes of Mrs. Ashe and Mrs. Chica took the National Spanish Examination to assess mastery of content and language. Thirty five students attained national recognition for excellence and mastery. A medal ceremony was conducted on May 21, 2018 for these students and their parents.

Students from the School of Government and Public Administration earned a total of 5 Gold Medal, 4 Silvers, 7 Bronze along with 19 students earning honorable mention. Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any students on the National Spanish Examination is very prestigious because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 159.000 students participating in 2018,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams.

Students from The School of Government have a long history of high achievement on these exams. The National Spanish Examination are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
